Daddy Daddy

It's a Saturday so there's a load of sport to talk about, FA Cup football in England, a full slate of normal end of winter stuff is out there, and at some time over the weekend I'll get to it but I wanted to talk about the weird voodoo surrogate father stuff Alex Ferguson must pull with his players.
Today Ruud van Nistelrooy, ex Manu striker, current Real Madrid forward, Dutch International and grown assed man, he is a married 30 year old, is talking like a small boy abandoned by his daddy. In an interview with World Soccer magazine, (which I always see in WH Smiths at train stations and airports but never see anyone reading) he talks of Fergie 'kicking his soul' when he left him out of a Cup Final team last year - WHAT!?!? You didn't play in the team to get to the Final, SAF said he was sticking with the players who got him there, did and they won. Ruud felt that things died between them...how bizarre. He is your manager your boss your de facto employer and you're acting like he came home drunk from the pub and beat you with a belt.

Now cast back thy mind to a certain other Real Madrid player, ex-Manu midfielder David Beckham, and the psychological effects he spoke of being cast aside by Ferguson and United, of course cast aside is a relative term, he was sold for 20 something mill to Spain and a huge salary awaited him, not quite like being tossed on the scrapheap, now Beckham was a boy when he first got involved with SAF's ju-ju, so in some ways you could appreciate that there could have been a surrogate father type relationship formed as he was young, but Van Nistelrooy was in his twenties, then you think of all the ex-Ferguson players who are managers and they all go back to 'daddy' for advise support and help, what does he do to them is he a cult leader the cult of Fergie. I'd love to see the meetings...
